Garvanza Spaghetti Extravaganza
by Pasadena Adjacent
Garvanza’s best friend Tina G Miller, the driving force behind the Garvanza Improvement Association (go ahead – you can “like” them on Face Book) will be hosting a spaghetti extravaganza fundraiser tomorrow night; Thursday the 19th 6:00 pm. Don’t let living in a nearby adjacent stop you from attending. Bring a dish – bring a dollar (or more please) and feel good about yourself for participating in the making of a film based on the life of Antonio Corsi - figure model and forgotten legend of Garvanza’s inner circle.
Think of it as an opportunity to hang out in a rambling Craftsman with your Highland Park neighbors, as we move towards our desired common goal; World domination! after all, the New York Times now recognizes us as a cultural stopover.
Tina asks that you arrive in bohemian costume. If your short on Stevie Nicks wash and wear, you can always pick up something at Garvanza’s 99 cent store. They currently have a pleasing selection of tiki paraphernalia. Improvise! we know your creative. And it’s a chance to Skype with our leader Jake Gorst: he’s the one making the film. So please bring a dish and donation to the event. Go to Face Book and click on “join” so we know you are attending. Or you can write me at accesspalm@gmail.com and I’ll give you the address. Thanks and hope to see you there!

This is with Douglas Fairbanks and Wallace Beery! There will be a live accompaniment with the 1928 Mighty Wurlitzer organ played by Robert Israel. Leonard Maltin will be giving the Introduction!!

please come – the collage is part of a collective called Scrapetoria
Well, I am charmed but not available to come. But I can Like Like Like. PA, you always find the best stuff. That top pic is super.

Our Editor Responds: like away! attention to a project helps. The photo is a spaghetti party from the Corsi archives
I love the pictures, and I’d go to the event in a heartbeat, but for my pesky, life-draining job, which keeps me downtown until after 7, after which I’ve got to visit my picture framer. I oughta chuck it all and be an artist’s model. But not seriously.
*****
Our Editor Responds: If your not to totally spent, drop on by anyways without the dish, dress or plate. Bring a five spot and have a cookie
Garvanza Improvement Association, is that like the Garvanza Gentrification Association? “First, we’ll come for the artists, then, …”
As much as I love the pictures, spaghetti, and The 3 Italian Words (Garvanza, Spaghetti, & Extravaganza, et al), I gotta be in Hollywood for another history thing Thus nite.
*****
Our Editor Responds: True, a familiar story and plague. But if a little gentrification keeps the thugs (gangs) away, it’s not all bad.
If you have a little x-tra time, drop by with a five spot. We always feed the dogs
Queen Patrizzi Intergarlictica 2012 #DooDahParade Queen has five bucks and a bag of chips.
*****
Our Editor Responds: We have a celebrity amongst us. Ignore the dress code and come in your gold sparkleness. Bring post cards in case theirs a literature table. We need to exploit you to our advantage
He’s so Native American.
*****
Our Editor Responds: When the situation called for it
You would see that in him, Princess Haha. I see something entirely different. Perhaps that is what made him such a good model?
*****
Our Editor Responds: A good model is hard to find. You need to be self conscious but not from a place of timidness. Know where your body is in space. What movements make you look interesting…and then hold it
That last thing was from me. I don’t know why Princess Hahamongna said it for me. I can speak for myself.
*****
Our Editor Responds: but it’s always nice to see all the pretty girls have come for a visit
Who was a good model?
*****
Our Editor Responds: Sybil
You events are so classy they come with dress codes! Sheesh!
*****
Our Editor Responds: We’ll let you skip on the dress code if you wear those snazzy tights
Will you be reporting back, for those of us who don’t attend?
*****
Our Editor Responds: I know if you weren’t in Austin, you would be here
Update from the association…… The Spaghetti Dinner will be hosting a prize to the highest donation at the spaghetti dinner tonight we will be giving 2 tickets away from the Los Angeles Conservancy to see the original 1922 Robin Hood at the amazing Orpheum Theater. I don’t suppose you’ll ever let me forget that HP beat Altadena in the gentrification department when our back was turned.
[...] spirit of lomography!) Update 7:50AM: Just heard about an event of note: Everyone head over to our pal Pasadena Adjacent to learn about a fun Garvanza area party/fundraiser TONIGHT! Benefits go toward filmmaker Jake [...]
I love spaghetti dinners. I think there should be more of them, just in general.
Is it in the blue two story Victorian? I did some gentrification in the area myself a number of years back. A few houses up the street – 421 – to be exact. I used to own it and it needed considerable gentrification. Kept me busy for a bit.
*****
Our Editor Responds: Tina has been on “said” street since 1995. She told me some interesting insider stuff. You must come and meet up. Oh…I believe her house is a craftsmen but she has a fair amount of Victorian furnishings. I should change that in the blog
I’m so sorry I missed this. I hope you do a re-enactment of that first photo.
*****
Our Editor Responds: We did
I’ll wager it was dreamy and dramatic
*****
Our Editor Responds: It was nice. Not as large as we would have liked, but then that means more vino and spaghetti for us
“Thank you to everyone who made our Kickstarter effort a success! We owe a debt of gratitude to all of our backers – and anyone who blogged, Facebooked, Tweeted, etc. about our project. Our film will take some time to complete and we have a lot more funding to raise in the process through private and public means. But the amount contributed today will go a long way in getting the project off the ground.
And we will get right to work on fulfilling the rewards!
Warmest regards,”

Here’s another vote for that top photo. But the spaghetti looks alarmingly like brains . . . I better stay home.
*****
Our Editor Responds: You did stay home, dinners done. James Rosenquist (spaghetti artist) got his chops painting billboards
I saw the video on FB so most of my questions were answered there. The only other thing I want to know is what Mr V was reading…
*****
Our Editor Responds: A well stocked library of Art Books.
Our Editor Responds: Success! it’s a wrap
I had to come back again to gawk at Scrapetoria.
