Offramp Gallery is turning out to be my favorite local gallery. In brief, the owners purchased a freeway off-ramp adjacent property a tad south of Pasadena’s Muir High school. The previous owner built a beautiful open studio space that new owner Jane Chafin has turned into a gallery. It’s worth noting that Offramp is part of a trio of local galleries that include Project_210 and  Haus. This is the work of artist Mark Steven Greenfield whose art was recently featured at the gallery.

Do visit. The art is swell, the owners unpretentious and the patio is a sparkly wondrous delight.

Deepak Acharya has done a feature on the Indian Art Expo 2009 Visit!

DESTINATION?  TERMINATION?  SALVATION?

try to keep up

Unless you’ve spent a life time driving “beaters” you have no idea the gut wrenching fear experienced by “we the proud, the poor, and the way too many” when our annual smog check notice shows up in the mail. Standards are higher now, machinery more complex. Our favorite East LA mechanic who once (for a couple of extra bucks) used his magic fingers to fiddle with the dials, has retired. Time to break out the Obama bucks? well yes and no; it’s complicated. After a failed exam, Mr V (who loveshis silver 91-Buick Centuryand longs to see it reach the 200,ooo mile mark) filed for help under a government financial hardship program. Of course Mr V would show up a day too late to take full advantage of the short lived service.

Final Outcome: The repairs fell under the lowered cap off  amount and our beater girl remains mobile…till the next notice
