This is my favorite curbside find. Some might refer to it as a imitation of a Arne Jacobsen Swan chair. I think of it more in terms of a variation. It has it’s own integrety, just no author to back it up. From what I gather, it spent it’s better years in a hill hugging mid-century domicile. I found it around the corner and dragged it home. Fortunately, I’d kept a few yards of lavender naugahyde stored away. Doesn’t everyone? I used it for the upholstery. The pillows were a gift from Queen V. They came from Peru and the woman on the loom made them.
……….

In my neighborhood, trash collection takes place on a Tuesday. The night before is a good time to canvas the neighborhood for castaways. It’s great sport. I use Tuesday on my blog to post my treasures. The phrase “getting it cheap is part of the esthetic’ was coined by my photographer friend D Gordon

You actually re-upholstered that chair? I think you might have another career waiting in the wings if you are ever desperate.
Congrats — you’re here!
My dad had a chair just like that, only it was white leather.
We once had a couch covered in naugahyde (sp), and if you were in shorts it made your legs sweat.

That’s a beautiful chair! I’m not sure about the lavender though.
How far are you from Tory Pines in La Jolla (sp), there is a great beach there and Tory Pines is a really great hike.
Best wishes to you and your sister.
Looks like a variation of the iconic Eames lounge chair. I love the lilac naugahyde.
LOVE it. We had one (a knockoff) when I was a child–it went curbside at some point, too. Wish I had it now.
Looks good. Is it comfortable?
Sweet. The chair is now on my desktop. I like the hint of late 20th century electronics tinged with a bouquet of Rah! Rah! Rah!
In anyone else’s jittery hands this tableau would seem heavy-handed. Nicely done, PA.
The phone cord and is that an AC cord?
Also, there doesn’t seem to be anything roadside these days and I haven’t worked up the courage to dumpster dive. In any case, I think people around here are hanging on to things instead of jettisoning.
There’s lots of stuff on Freecycle but everything is snapped up in two seconds.
You are a genius! I honestly want to go trash scavenging with you sometime. I never find anything like the stuff you come up with. And the lavender… inspired. I covet this chair.
then there’s this fellow
