Its true: here I am with “my people” (thats my “peoples” knee) awaiting an order in beautiful east of eden Burbank
The box? it’s for Bonnie Hunt. Unlike me, her “people” are MIA
Feeling like you could use a little glamor yourself? Thats what I’m here for. Hop in! We’re out to meet up with a butterfly

How’s your Spanish? All will be revealed if you make it through the video. Welcome to the glamorous world of research and development. This is the what is left of the old Southern Pacific railroad track. It’s currently in the process of being transformed into a bike and pedestrian path. Enjoy the ride.
Were there many inflorescences on the way? And where dat glamour? (I have a Dante story that can match your Zorthian.)
I think I heard someone say butterfly in Spanish on that train. Read my followup comment on the Chocolate Heath covered building post just before I tackle this one, perhaps later in the week.
“I’m late for a very important date no time to say hello goodbye I’m late I’m late I’m late”
One quick other thing, there was an interesting piece on Mr. Burbank on NPR @ KPCC last night. I think you might be interested, and/or need it.
I totally love him.
The Department of Research and Development thanks you for your effort Mid-Town-G. Unfortunately Luther Burbank remains unassociated with the city of Burbank. David Burbank, for which the city was named, was a dentist who came from the east and purchased vast land holdings from the rancho era. Dam it!
As discussed, Luther Burbank did hybridize the popular Russet Burbank potato used in the making of McDonald french fries. Not discussed; Cannon balls have been found on the Warner Brothers lot that are traced to a military battle that took place when Mexican leader Pio Pico replaced the Spanish Governor.
You are totally glamorous. Of course.
Hey, you are hanging out in my ‘hood! You should have filmed it when the whole thing was an old abandoned train track overgrown with shrubbery – from Victory to Vineland. At the area around Cahuenga there are a bunch of murals.
Also at the corner of Cahuenga and Chandler there is the Illiad bookstore – the best used book store in the Valley. They used to be right next to Odyssey Video, at the corner of Vineland, Lankershim and Camarillo, but they had to move. Something about a psycho landlord.
Vanda, only if PA left her distinctive “pA” graffitied on some wall. Then, yes, you can say she was hanging in your hood. Be berry careful.
Is the glam drapery for real? I love it!
Another historical if not hysterical ride by PA productions. (I googled hysterical & got this!!! http://www.hystericglamourshop.com/)
PS – Take a look at this homey mural in Belgrade. I really like it.
http://yankee-in-belgrade.blogspot.com/2009/04/abc-wednesday-m-is-for-mural.html
So what will it be? curtain number one, curtain number two or whats behind the box?
Dam the dam, damn it! To much information leaking out!
So I guess your stuck with a giant molar and some dental tools… drilling in a high pitch tone. They’d love it.
Stupid David!
PS – I kept thinking about you while looking at the sets of the Valkyrie – I thought you’d be good at designing a set like that. You must come with me for the 3rd or 4th one next season – we’ll get the cheap seats.
Look at the link to the photogallery and find the white horse that the valkyrie “rides” – reminded me so much of a cartoonish version of the IHOP horse.
This is for you Vanda…I’ve added this extra video that follows the Chandler murals from Vineland on towards the track. I’ve spent more time in your hood then you know. Last year I attended several meetings at the city owned Bureau of Street Services. It’s across the street from the mural that depicts a line up of bushes. It’s where we did the test runs for several sidewalk contractors stamps we had designed.
AH: Glamor? what about my near proximity to fame and fortune: Bonnie Hunt? and then there is the drive along the last remaining track still in the possession of the Southern Pacific RR? If that wasn’t enough of a good time for you may I suggest you return and look for the vintage quanson hut. I give and give and yet your never satisfied.
Madam: and by him I hope you mean Luther Burbank for which I’ve linked your comment; or did you mean Mid-Town-G? sources tell me he’s lovable also
Margaret: Glamor begets glamor
CO: I left no trace but if things should go my way, I might
Tash: Not only is that curtain for real, it’s for sale, and in a variety of colors suitable for any Hollywood production.
Re:I like murals that play with illusion. Mr V (during his squad period) made a faux WWII submarine and placed it in Newport Bay as part of a show he was in. At the time the bay front Balboa Pavillion served as OC’s only art museum. That stint got a lot of press coverage and I remember it even though I couldn’t have been older then 12. BTY (like the name I Hop Horse)
JC: Behind that particular curtain is drywall, I’d go for the box. It’s not as if Bonny’s people are around to notice.
Mid-Town-G: The good news, it went well. The bad news, they’re now going to narrow it to three and ask us to return with a fully fleshed out presentation. No honorarium
