  1. Chef King Walter brought this miracle to the table

  2. What a beautiful paella. And I love the way the mussels form the shape of the cross.

I want someone to make paella for me.

Temple City Jesus looks like a pin head.

  3. I love the rose colored lens! Very cool shot.

  4. Thanks for the memory. I recognize something important in susan c’s longing and I would love to make paella for her. I would like to encourage Susan to try her hand at paella, at first a small one for herself and a friend, and then for a table of friends. (or a good spanish restaurant?)

  5. And a happy Easter to you, too.

  6. Great photographs especially the one shot through the sunglasses. Happy Easter.

  7. Jesus gets around.

  8. I love Jesus and Jerome Rothenberg.

  9. Very cool post, PA.

  10. We had stuffed Bunny roasted on a cross shaped skewer. Yumm. Day is done.

  11. What, there is no god in altadena?

  12. Awesome series of Jesus sightings. I like the one on Foohill Blvd. in La Canada (La Crescenta?) – the statue where he’s got his arms up in the air as though motioning that a touchdown has been scored.

  13. Hippo Eagle to ewe!

  14. happy easter! i’m loving pic 1…and the sparkly pic 3

  15. Did you go to service in Mandarin at 11 in Temple City? Bethlehem Lutheran Church was chartered in 1947 and has continued its’ ministry through years of changing neighborhoods and changing members. The congregation has gone from being an Augustana Synod Church (Swedes and other northern Europeans) to what is now 60% Mandarin Chinese and 40% Caucasian.
My fave is the 2nd – a bit Where-is-Waldo-ish though. I usually hate the oval window holes like that but even that works on this building.
BTW – I went by the horse on Manchester, took photos, outside & inside the IHOP (did you see their collection of historical photos of Westchester/LAX – it’s great), went by Otis – thanks for the recommendation – stopped, walked around, looked at the art – didn’t like the digital media floor – all images of dark, violent, video-game worlds, took pictures of the building. Good time, that. Found out NOTHING on the horse.

  16. Text in bold type is a link

File this entry under the terminology of “Elastic Ecclesiastic” a term coined by my friend Don from Lakewood. He also named the architectural style of Disney Hall, (at a lecture he was giving at Red Cat Theater; a part of Disney Hall) as “post modern Matterhorn” The French ate it up.

Susan: Not only beautiful but delicious. It was my first and only Paella. Seems the Chef wants to make Paella for you (check out his comment below)

Ben: Thanks, I was happy to get in a few shots before my camera battery pooped out.

Chef-King: Susan’s a pretty good chef herself. Her blog is Open Mouth Insert Fork

Margaret: Yup, big whoop. We ended up at Steak and Stein. It could of been worse, mom was pushing for Norms.

Marcial: Thanks…great to hear from you. We really should get together some time other then through my blog.

Petrea: apparently to the ire of the Hiker, he didn’t stop in Altadena

Patrizzi: I love that hipster reading. Wheres my beret?

Laurie: thanks..thats me showing off my photo skills

Mid-Town-G; Was your bunny covered in Mole? Not a fan of Jesus? it may have been a day for you but I kept Jesus up a bit longer.

Altadena Hiker: After last nights folly, I’m guessing he might of led us back to our car minus any retaliatory bloodshed.

WCGB: I know it well but I’m not sure it’s jesus…maybe John?. It’s, well, very large. I do like the symbolic impressions on the obelisk that supports Jesus/John.

    QV: is that zoo latin?

Vetti: I’m crazy over Jesus three as well and I’m not surprised that you are too. It’s poured tinted concrete into welded shaped channels. The rock work is dated but so charming and of it’s time.

Tash: I’m working off your lead on the horse but no one seems to be able to get through to the relator. I may have to puff up the bank angle. I’m glad you like the second photo. It was an unexpected success. The tricked out truck pulled up while I was desperately trying to adjust the camera setting. Turns out it sort of made the image work along with the power line and car window. Re: the church. It’s on a street called Halifax. It’s a delightful example of elastic ecclesiastic. Modernist touches played out on that favored swiss chalet format. It’s presently in it’s Korean Presbyterian phase.

  17. Ok, a bit more. This is past catch up: We had Vegetarian Lasagna for last Sundays (easter) dinner, the bunnies were dessert, you might call it Mole’ (salsa del topo) but we called them S’mores. They were marshmallow bunnies roasted on an open fire and squished between chocolate and Cram Crackers, an experience from childhood. Yummy.

And, No I have nothing against Jesus, but there’s always more then one way to look at things: Jesus was born a Jew, so you one could say he betrayed his own people. Or you could also say Jesus was the beginning of a cult known as Jews for Jesus, a bit self serving don’t you think? What I truly dislike are mandatory holidays and organized religion of all breads. Religious wars have killed more people in the name of one god or another then any natural disaster in history.

I’m also responding tonight as a round-up, I’m taking a break from the blogs, I just don’t have the extra time right now, sorry. I might be lurking again in the future, but for now it’s Hasta la vista! Drop by the studio sometime, your welcome to bring the Hiker, the double espresso offer at the Urth Cafe DT still stands (for both of you) just make sure she’s on a leather spiked collar and on a leash.

  18. jesus is everywhere (as we’ve been raised to believe)
    happy greek easter (it’s tomorrow)
