“My salute to George Bush using not so subtle symbolism. Talk about a Trash Tuesday! This is a poor quality picture of a cup which was broken accidentally. The date shown is the last day of his presidency (hooray) and the blurry words below it say just that. I got the idea a few days after it broke to fish it out of the garbage and make a “museum” type of mounting for the shards. Actually it only broke in two large pieces and I took a hammer to it to make it more representational of the condition George left the country in. Let’s not beat around the BUSH here, I think it would make a great photo for inauguration day on your blog (which coincidentally is a Trash Tue). Becky is getting this little memento as a surprise inauguration day present. Yes, I do have quite the nerve to present you with a poor quality picture and make this outrageous proposition. Use it if you want.”

I own one of these two pieces, and I have to say, the oddly blithe savagery of this folk art leads me to hope its creator is institutionalized in some fashion. Maybe not Gitmo, but at least something with shock therapy.

This is nice, D, but I’m hoping they produce a George W Chia Pet. (Wait a minute….they already have Chia Pet clowns). Chia Pets make great joke gifts that usually end up in the trash…..

This is fantastic. Perfect image for our time. I was stunned that a fellow blog commenter chastized me on another blog for not showing “proper respect” for the former pres because I wrote “don’t let the screen door hit you on the way out, George.” Guess there are still some people who don’t (read? Pay attention? care about laws or the Constitution?) understand why so many of us are celebrating.
AH: They carried Mogan David (mad dog 20/20) in a neighborhood market back in the 70’s on Penn Street (either in Altadena or North West Pasadena) don’t ask me how I know but it might be a good substitute over Cheetos.
