John E.:Yup, Mel Ramos is gag worthy but he seems to have survived through the politically correct 90's. Now he looks dated and comical (and yet I take it he's still selling, at least the red dot on the web site would indicate so). Blogger Grrrly Blather noticed the "girls" bore a striking resemblance to Sarah Palin

AH: did you read J.C.'s break down on the ingredients of gum? Will Susan try this in her kitchen? It's not right.

Tash: I was at the P library last night looking for the "King of San Miguel" didn't have it. I'll try L.A. next (did get J Smith "Alive in LaLa Land") I've heard of the Lester family. USelaine's great grandfather was shipwrecked on the same isle...her words (Everybody lived. He grabbed his charts and sextant, piled the crew into the lifeboat, and arrived, after a long night, in Santa Barbara. The ship was the Watson A. West). About the girls of Mel Ramos: I kept the PG version up on Sunday but when I discovered (wordpress tells you this stuff) people were not opening the doublemint link...well, it's not wise to ignore my links

Petrea: Not to loud? Try as I might, I can't seem to get behind going through the Cannon manual and learning things like how to control the volume. I had to eliminate a video (that was pretty good) due to my heavy breathing.

Keith: both you and USelaine. Go in February, stay at the Hermosa (cheap) the trail head starts behind Gower Gultch camp ground.

CO: how so?

D: no, just Mel's version of them. Actually a rapper (?) recently did a remix of the doublemint jingle. I was hoping to find a mp3 file of the original jingle. No luck. It was either Frank Loyde Wright or Rudolph Schindler who had a home that was up for sale in Catalina. The land was purchased and the home torn down. This was the same period where the Neutra in Rancho Mirage, was purchased and razed by some rich carpetbagger. Read here...

J.C.: I feel better for having known you and gum no longer appeals to me.

PA, heres something informative to add to the conversation.

"Up until WWII, chewing gum was made of a substance called chicle mixed with flavorings. Chicle is a latex sap that comes from the sapodilla tree (native to Central America). In other words, chicle is a form of rubber. Just like rubber bands don’t dissolve when you chew them, neither does chicle. Chicle is a good bit softer than rubber bands and happens to soften more when it gets warm in your mouth. If you freeze chicle with ice, it gets very stiff — chicle hardens and softens over a pretty narrow temperature range.
Gum bases are mixed with sugar and other flavorings to make chewing gum.
After WWII, chemists learned how to make artificial gum bases to replace chicle. These gum bases are essentially synthetic rubbers that have the same temperature profile as chicle. Gum bases (either natural or artificial) are mixed with sugar and other flavorings to make chewing gum. When you chew it, the rubber releases these flavorings into your mouth"
