I bet you’re a whiz with the ol’ Etch-a-Sketch now!
You are very good at this and I agree with you, it’s obviously a polliwog, that is to say, a tadpole. I think your classmates have sex on their minds. You might not want to turn your back to them for any length of time. I don’t think spermatozoa have faces. Or arms for that matter. Well done.
Sperm cells and pollywogs have quite a bit in common.
I want that frog. On my tile
You’re classmates need natural history education to match their sex education. Of course, since amphibians are dying off as such a rapid rate, it’s no wonder they’ve never seen one. How many human generations have gone by since the Los Angeles River had natural mudbanks? Lots. I want the tadpole on my tile
These are perfect!
Hey, PA,
I came back to admire these OGs, and I see you asked me a question. My house does not have Batchelder tiles — sigh — and it’s not a traditional Craftsman, it’s one of those transitional Victorian/Craftsman homes with elements of both styles. (I always thought that was a made-up term by realtors but it’s actually a classification of this type of home built around 1900. I love it because it has clean Craftsman lines and trim, but original Victorian light fixtures and doorknobs.)
I particularly like your log line drawing. Do you remember when Dave Eggars was on a book tour for Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius? Seems to me he signed his books with a drawing of a log. Maybe I dreamed that.
These are so wonderful, woman. I would love to see them animated. Or blown up wall size in a loft.
